In the first case-based ERN Rare-Liver webinar, held on 8 February 2022, Dr Gustav Buescher presented a rare case of cholestasis. The experts Annika Bergquist, Kristine Wiencke and Ansgar W. Lohse participated in the discussion on treatment of this complex rare liver disease.

Gustav Buescher Dr Gustav Buescher is a registrar at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany since 2018. He studied medicine in Szeged, Hungary and Jena, Germany where he received a fellowship at the Center for Sepsis Control and Care and worked on the molecular mechanisms of septic cholestasis. As part of the European Reference Network (ERN Rare Liver) Team he is involved in the presentation and case discussion of rare and complicated cases via the online Clinical Patient Management System (CPMS). He is actively taking part in several research groups evaluating Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) in respect of their immunological potential and their role as potential biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
