On routine examination a 52-year-old gynecologist with normal serum liver tests turns out to be HBs-Antigen positive with low-level viremia of HBV at 1,012 IU/ml.

What should be advised to the gynecologist?

A. He must limit his medical activities exclusively to conservative measures avoiding all major surgical procedures

B. He should be monitored regularly but should not receive antiviral therapy before HBV viraemia exceeds 2,000 IU/ml

C. He should be treated with either entecavir, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate or tenofovir alafenamide to reduce HBV viraemia below 200 IU/ml

D. He should not receive antiviral therapy as long as serum liver tests remain normal

E. His first-choice treatment should be lamivudine since viral load is low and serum liver tests are normal
