Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is characterised by excessive hepatic fat accumulation and encompasses a spectrum of liver dysfunction ranging from steatosis to hepatic necro-inflammation, characteristic of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
