A 26-year-old woman on the oral contraceptive pill has an abdominal ultrasound scan to investigate intermittent right upper quadrant pain. The scan shows a homogenous hyperechoic mass in the right lobe of her liver. Her liver edge is smooth. An MRI shows no features of cirrhosis and a 3 cm lesion in her right lobe typical of an haemangioma.
