Quiz: An otherwise healthy 43-year-old woman underwent an abdominal ultrasound as part of a routine gynecological workup.

The ultrasound reports a normal liver, normal kidneys and pancreas. Her gallbladder has 3 gallstones of less than 5mm and the extrahepatic bile ducts appear free of stones and are not dilated. She is concerned about these gallstones and her doctor told her she needs surgery.
