They first reflect on a case study session regarding a patient with alcoholic liver cirrhosis and ongoing alcohol abuse problems, highlighting the importance of a patient-centred approach and multidisciplinary team input. They then summarize the key messages from a ‘meet-the-experts’ session where two patients shared their experiences of receiving liver transplants, before exploring the importance of giving patients opportunities to optimise their care. Finally, they discussed a symposium on the benefits and challenges of collaborative working in palliative care.
